Snack & Letters

We will have lots of fun learning the letters of the alphabet and the sounds they make. Hands on activities and crafts will explore a different letter each week. The class will enjoy a snack while each child has an opportunity to share "Show and Tell" weekly.
Hands On Math

We will practice our numbers - counting and writing. We will work on addition and subtraction, counting by 2's, 5's, and 10's, and practice telling time. We will also look into money, measuring, and the calendar. Plus, a few other math skills! We will engage in these topics through fun activities and games! **Each year we cover the same topics, but do change a majority of the crafts and activities from the previous year.
Junior Symposium (K-3)

In this class, our prayer and vision is to expose the children to some of life's riches. We will encourage them to observe the beauty of God's creation and the arts inspired by it, and be able to articulate and discuss their observations, encouraging the habit of attention. Class will begin with prayer, a hymn, and a folk song, and will include rotating studies of artists, composers, and poetry, ending with nature study as often as possible. This class will mirror the 4-6 grade Symposium class. NOTE: This class works on a rotation. Students desiring to take it again will have all new material. Please note: This class is a wider age range. This is integral for the dynamic of the class
Beginning Sign Language

This class will cover beginning sign language with a strong emphasis on ASL. We will learn to sign many words over the course of the year through practice with our hands, video instruction, worksheets, games and more. Vocabulary will be learned in subjects such as colors, animals, etc. We will also learn basic communication sentences that will be structured in exact English order but ASL word order will be discussed. A binder will be provided that students will add vocabulary sheets in order to study and practice at home. This class will cover the same lessons as last year.
Lego Physics (2-3)

Basic physics concept will be taught in class that include simple machines, inertia, conservation of energy, molecular energy, pressure, density, surface tension, capillary action, and a whole lot more. We will explore everything from windshield wipers, rockets and ratchets, to cogs and cranes and then put it all together with fun LEGO projects. Some examples of projects are a balloon powered car and submarines. Short movies on "THE WAY THINGS WORK" based off the book by David Macaulay will be viewed to help understand the physics concept being taught. While most of the projects remain the same each year, I encourage a student who has previously taken this class to join us again as physics concepts can be abstract and take time to fully understand.
Life Skills

Life Skills will be a fun, diverse class through which students will learn and regularly practice various skills. We will work toward becoming adept with calendars, telling time, money, and basic geography. We will learn how to tie shoes, discuss dealing with potential hazards, memorize books of the Bible, and learn to play simple songs on a recorder. There will also be plenty of opportunities for speaking and praying out loud in front of the rest of the class to build confidence in public speaking.
Creative Canvas 1 (4-6)

Join us as we explore the exciting world of acrylic painting through guided, step-by-step instruction designed for all skill levels. Whether you’re brand new to art or already love to create, you’ll learn approachable techniques that make beautiful results achievable for everyone. We’ll work on a variety of surfaces, including stretched canvases and canvas boards ranging in size from 8x10 to 16x20. Along the way, we’ll experiment with paint pens and mixed-media elements to add depth and personality to each piece. If time allows, we may even create a special lighted canvas project. Bring your curiosity, a willingness to try new techniques, and a love of creating — and leave with artwork you’ll be proud to display!
Español Aventurero (Adventurous Spanish)

We will use a combination of songs & rhymes, picture vignettes with accompanying stories, Gouin’s ‘series,’ skits and literature to teach Spanish in the same gentle way you learned English. Students will be exposed to and learn to understand, speak and write beginner Español. We will also learn about some of the culture and geography of Spanish-speaking countries around the world. ¡Vamos a hablar Español!
Lounge 2

Lounge is a semi-quiet place for students and adults to hang out, work on schoolwork, visit with a friend, play a quiet card game, listen to music with headphones, etc. (see handbook for all details about Lounge). Lounge meets in the Fellowship Hall.

The Write Class

How do you teach children to write without constantly hearing moans and groans? This class is designed to inspire students to enjoy writing and to feel the success of publishing their own work in homemade books, newspapers, etc. We will use many forms of writing: poetry, short stories, articles, journals, and more. By the end of the year, your student will have a portfolio full of his/her accomplishments that he/she and you will treasure over the years. Students will also gain experience in public speaking as they share their writings with the class. Students are more than welcome to repeat the class! I have a 2-year rotation for this class with some new and old activities.
Algebra 1

Standard Algebra 1 class for students who have successfully completed Algebra 1/2 or Saxon 8/7. During class we will cover any questions from the previous week's work, introduce new material (4 lessons) and correct the weekly test performed at home. Students will receive a grade based on daily assignments (50% of their grade) and test scores (50% of their grade). Parental involvement is ESSENTIAL and REQUIRED. Parent(s) will be correcting their students daily assignments and having there student re-do missed problems to enhance their learning.
Drama

“Lights, camera, action” - join our drama class for a front-row seat to the spotlight! Our drama class is a space where students can build confidence, work collaboratively with their peers, and develop their communication skills. In class, we will play fun drama games, perform short skits, do improv, and more. The drama class will perform for two chapels and two showcase performance nights, where they can display their skills and perform in front of an audience. This showcase is a chance for students to celebrate their hard work and growth throughout the year.
Mystery of History III (7-8)

Embark on an exciting journey through world history from the Renaissance through the Reformation (1455-1707) Students will create a Mystery of History notebook, which features a keepsake timeline. Alongside this, the class will have various crafts, activities, and a few written assignments throughout the year. Students will learn to create memory cards, memorizing 12 important dates during the course. Join us as we dig into the past, revealing God’s sovereign hand in history.
Pre-Algebra

This Pre Algebra class will use Saxon Algebra 1/2, 3rd Edition to build a strong foundation for future algebra. Students will practice core skills such as fractions, decimals, percent, ratios, exponents, basic equations, geometry, and problem solving through Saxon’s incremental approach and continual review. In class, we will review key concepts, work through examples, practice difficult problem types, and strengthen math confidence. This class is best for students who are ready to work carefully, show their steps, and complete regular homework. Parents should expect to monitor homework completion and help maintain steady daily progress at home. This is a one year Pre Algebra course intended to prepare students for Algebra 1.
Tolkien

J.R.R. Tolkien wrote the story that made the Fantasy genre what it is today. Where did such a story come from? In the first several weeks of class, we will be introduced to Tolkien the man and dive into some of the works that shaped his imagination, like the Anglo-Saxon poems 'The Wanderer,' and 'Beowulf.' The rest of the year will be spent reading all three volumes of the Lord of the Rings, with an occasional essay or short story thrown in. My hope is that you leave the class loving Lord of the Rings more than when you signed up, and that you develop an appreciation for Tolkien's belief in the ability of art to bring glory to our Creator. I hope you join us!
Well Fit - whole body fitness

The first and largest portion of class each day will be dedicated to physical fitness. Working different muscle groups and levels of fitness with modifications as needed. Learning to use some tools (weights, resistant bands etc.)but mostly utilizing bodyweight exercises for at home convenience. The second portion at the end of each class day will focus on wellness/whole body fitness. The subjects will vary widely. Some examples include the importance of sleep, being connected to nature, foods that support different systems of the body, food as medicine, what balanced meals look like, immune health, gut health, practicing gratitude and prayer just to name a few. We will learn how all the systems of the body are connected (mind, body, spirit) and the importance of focusing on your body as
Write On (7-8)

In this class we will focus on developing creative writing skills as well as a love of writing. This will include a focus on reading interesting stories and putting them into our own words, developing key word outlines, learning the different elements of story writing, how to format an essay in college style, writing and typing exercises, creative thinking and much more! Writing can be tough and this class will encourage your student to pursue skills in writing and learn to love it.
Gameplay & Design (9-12)

In this class, we will be spending the first half of the year learning various board game mechanics and components while learning to play modern board games. The second half of the year will be spent in working groups with the aim to create a modern board games, playtest those board games and research how to publish a modern board game.
IEW

This high school level writing class will help students develop their skills using the Structure and Style method from the Institute for Excellence in Writing. Through incremental writing lessons, students will learn a variety of techniques to enhance their writing. Students will be taught how to take effective notes and write from those notes, how to retell a story and summarize a reference. In addition, students will learn how to summarize multiple references as well as build on their knowledge of sentence, paragraph and essay structures. High School credits: 1
Media Design & Digital Marketing

In the Media Design and Digital Marketing course, students will create a business plan and then build beginning level skills to support the digital aspects of a business. They will learn foundational design principles, digital marketing strategies, content creation for various platforms, web design basics, social media marketing, and campaign management, with a focus on creating visually appealing and effective digital marketing materials across different channels.

The nursery is available for infants - age 3 and does not require session payments.The only payment required is a $15-20 fee per semester to cover the cost of snacks and supplies for nursery. Parents who are registering a child in the nursery will be expected to serve in the nursery for one of their jobs. Any co-op parent is encouraged to work in the nursery if they would enjoy this job!
