At the end of a long day at Co-op this is the best place to be. Your child will relax with sensory play, a story, or a video with lights out. If your child has any food allergies, please make the teachers aware.

The students will experience the fun and joy of music. The emphasis will be learning songs, carrying a tune, active listening, and basic elements of music. Cooperation in a large group will also be stressed. By the end of the year, your student will sing songs in simple 2 parts.

In this class, we will look into the different aspects of literature and storytelling to learn what makes up a good story. Students will learn how to dissect the different components of a story as well as look at literary themes that run throughout our novel. In addition to short stories, we will also read a chapter book together as a class. To help us understand the story, we will add in various activities and projects. For students who hope to take this class 2 years in a row, the material will change to accommodate that to ensure they have something new to learn year 2. NOTE: Books and activities change slightly from year to year as to accommodate for returning students.

Welcome to the American Girl class! American Girl is a very special way to learn about the history on each doll and how they lived during their time of life. This class is so fun and very hands on and active with crafts, reading, songs, picnics, and my favorite, TEA PARTIES! You are welcome to bring your doll to class and all types of dolls are welcome. We will be creating in different ways. Cutting and making decor for parties and a lot of step-by-step instructions to follow. This class is best for 4th-6th graders. The desire to still play with dolls is a must! Students will earn points for purchasing items for their dolls and other treasures.

This class will teach students the basics of crochet, including basic stitches, how to read patterns, how to choose yarn, and how to choose the correct hook size for your project. We will have in class instruction as well as handouts and videos to watch at home. We will use the stitches we learn to make simple items.

Lounge is a semi-quiet place for students and adults to hang out, work on schoolwork, visit with a friend, play a quiet card game, listen to music with headphones, etc. (see handbook for all details about Lounge). Lounge meets in the Fellowship Hall.

Do you wonder if your student really comprehends the books they read? Many times students can answer simple questions about a book but miss the deeper meaning. This class will delve deeper into literature through homework and class discussion. We will have an exciting mix of books that will expose the students to other cultures, history and are adventure-filled as well as entertaining. Because of the variety of reading abilities, parents can choose to have the student read to themselves, a parent read, or listen to an audio book. Each week we will have class discussions pertaining to the book and go over the new vocab words they encounter in these great classics. This class has different books each year...Take a look!

This class is on a 2-year rotation with new traits, people to learn from and activities every other year. What made President Lincoln a great leader? How did Irena Sendler rescue so many children from German-occupied Poland? Along with King David, Queen Esther, Noah, Katherine Johnson and Desmond T. Doss, they all have something in common: strong, Godly character. Building character at a young age sets our children up for success in life. Part history, social studies, and language arts, this fun class will examine the lives of people who exemplify the kind of character traits we want to develop. Honest, consistent, caring, gritty and devoted are just a few traits that we will incorporate into our lives. Join us as we learn how to become a master character builder!

In Zoology 2 we will dive into a journey of studying and exploring the wonderful world of underwater creatures. We’re going to talk about and study the inhabitants of our oceans, rivers, ponds, and streams. We will even spend a few weeks learning about prehistoric water creatures. Your student will marvel as they discover and learn about the charming, exotic, and fascinating creatures God created on the 5th day of creation. Your student will expand their understanding of the water creatures they encounter regularly and also gain awareness of those they may never encounter. The easy-to-use Apologia science curriculum that will guide this class is written in an engaging narrative form and is fit for the entire family to read and enjoy together!

This class is for students who have some drawing background and would like to enhance their skills and gain some more techniques that they may not already have. Students will need to be able to follow along with demonstrations and be able to apply skills taught during class to their work. We will be covering a range of mediums and topics, including graphite, charcoal, colored pencils, and ink pens while working on drawing portraits, still-life, landscapes, animals, perspective and more. It is a class that will be designed for students wishing to enhance their skills they may already have and to be challenged and encouraged in creating art.

Learn to play a string instrument while discovering the joy of making music in a group setting! Students will learn skills in tone production, note reading (rhythmic and melodic), basic music theory, scales, and bowings. Emphasis will be placed on good technique, left and right-hand posture, tuning their own instrument, and ensemble playing. Participants in the orchestra will use movement, listening, and playing instruments to develop their own musical artistry while building friendships with their peers in a musical setting.

Exploring Creation with Health and Nutrition is such a fun and engaging course that will help us thrive in life as we cultivate healthy habits. We will learn how to honor God with all aspects of our health; physically, socially, mentally and spiritually. Students will see firsthand how each aspect of health is connected and can impact your life in either a positive or negative way. This class will take an in-depth look at the systems that contribute greatly to our health and well-being, like genetics, identity, temperament, balancing emotions, friendships, family relationships, nutrition, exercise, injury prevention, addiction avoidance, and Christ centered wisdom. Our lives are such a gift from God and we want to learn to be a good stewards of our bodies and relationships.

Embark on an exciting journey through world history from the Early Church through the Middle Ages (33A.D. - 1456 A.D.) Students will create a Mystery of History notebook, which features a keepsake timeline. Alongside this, the class will have various activities and a few written assignments throughout the year. Students will learn to create memory cards and practice note taking. Join us as we dig into the past, revealing God’s sovereign hand in history.

J.R.R. Tolkien wrote the story that made the Fantasy genre what it is today. Where did such a story come from? In the first several weeks of class, we will be introduced to Tolkien the man and dive into some of the works that shaped his imagination, like the Anglo-Saxon poems 'The Wanderer,' and 'Beowulf.' The rest of the year will be spent reading all three volumes of the Lord of the Rings, with an occasional essay or short story thrown in. My hope is that you leave the class loving Lord of the Rings more than when you signed up, and that you develop an appreciation for Tolkien's belief in the ability of art to bring glory to our Creator. WANTED! Baristas! Apply Within! This is your chance to learn a marketable skill that can be used directly in a real-world application. Students will work together as members in a coffee shop and participate in the planning, marketing, and development. Students will be exposed to important business skills including customer service, food and work safety, and team skills in a work environment. And of course, they will learn how to make delicious espresso drinks, which they will serve to co-op parents during 5th period. Students will also get to drink coffee. You've been warned!

"Where two rivers meet, the waters are never calm." Chadian proverb. This high school social studies course will cover the geopolitical development of various countries, in view of their history, geography, resources, and current political climate. Additionally, we will study the advance of the gospel in each country, weaving in the elements previously mentioned. I am teaching this from a biblical perspective, and will engage these topics with a view towards God’s goodness, truth and beauty. Some of the books used are not from an explicit Christian perspective. This class will fulfill the high school requirement for 1 full credit of social studies.

A fun and interactive class that focuses on skill development, application of knowledge, sportsmanship, spirituality and leadership. The class will consist of traditional field games and creative games that blend disciplines and skills from several different sports. We will rotate games approximately every 2-4 weeks. A positive attitude (win or lose) is required as is participation in all games and activities.

This class is for Running Start Students, ONLY. Running Start students should sign up for this class if they will be at LHC regularly or on occasion. Students that sign up for this class are expected to be in lounge.

The nursery is available for infants - age 3 and does not require session payments.The only payment required is fee of $15/semester to cover the cost of snacks and supplies for nursery. Parents that are registering a child in the nursery will be expected to serve in the nursery for one of their jobs. Any co-op parent is encouraged to work in the nursery if they would enjoy this job!
