Description:

Lounge is a semi-quiet place for students and adults to hang out (see the Handbook for all details about Lounge). When the bell rings, take attendance. If students are missing you will need to check with sub-pool to see if the family is out. If the family is here, have someone from the Board Table find the parent so we know the location of the student and bring them back to the lounge if needed.

In this class, our prayer and vision is to expose the children to some of life's riches. We will encourage them to observe the beauty of God's creation and the arts inspired by it, and be able to articulate and discuss their observations, encouraging the habit of attention. Class will begin with prayer, a hymn, and a folk song, and will include rotating studies of artists, composers, and poetry, ending with nature study as often as possible. If there were an active shooter situation, could you remain safe and help those around you? No one wants to be caught off-guard and unprepared. This class will cover a variety of survival situations from camping and hiking gone wrong to natural disasters and accidents. We will discuss preparation, assessing the situation, navigation, making/finding shelters, starting fires, locating safe drinking water, finding and cooking food, first aid, getting help, and more. Students will engage in hands-on activities each week to learn how to survive in these situations as an individual and as a member of a group.
