Lounge is a semi-quiet place for students and adults to hang out (see the Handbook for all details about Lounge). When the bell rings, take attendance. If students are missing you will need to check with sub-pool to see if the family is out. If the family is here, have someone from the Board Table find the parent so we know the location of the student and bring them back to the lounge if needed.

At the counter by the Main Entrance downstairs, it's important to be ready at your station before the bell rings. You will be responsible for monitoring anyone entering, leaving, or passing through the halls. Each area has a few responsibilities and these are written in your folder. You will also direct & help people to exits during an emergency, so you will need to be familiar with our emergency procedures, also located in your folder. THERE WILL BE A MANDATORY TRAINING MEETING time and location to be announced.

By Lower Floor restrooms, it's important to be ready at your station before you need to ring the bell. You will ring the bell for the end of lunch (12:00), for the beginning of class (12:05), and then again when class over (1:00). You MUST walk the entire back hallway and through the Fellowship Area EVERY time you ring the bell. Refer to the bell schedule in your folder. You will need to check the restroom BEFORE your hour is over. Each area has a few responsibilities and these are written in your folders. You will also direct & help people to exits during an emergency, so you will need to be familiar with our emergency procedures, also located in your folder. THERE WILL BE A MANDATORY TRAINING MEETING time and location to be announced.

By Main Floor restrooms, it's important to be ready at your station before you need to ring the bell. If you are scheduled for a sub pool job, at the very beginning of the period go to the board table and check in with the board table attendant. You will be assigned a job where a sub is needed. If there are no immediate needs, then you may use the remainder of that period as you wish on campus (please let the board table attendant know where you will located in case a need does come up).

In this class we will have fun being creative and learning about art and the many ways it's created! We will be learning about color theory, using different painting techniques and learning about a handful of historical artists and how they created their art. By the end of the year your child will have their very own art book to take home filled with the different things they learned and created throughout the year.

Come have fun with us as we learn how to stretch, work out & all about sports! I like to start our classes off thanking God for the bodies He gave us, then we stretch & then each week will be something new!! My main objective is to get the kids running around, learning about different sport- , learning sportsmanship & kindness through it all!

We will be working through the simple step-by-step lessons of the Draw-Write-Now series. In this fun, creative class, students will be drawing, practicing their handwriting skills and having fun with some creative writing. This is an exciting, enjoyable way to get kids drawing and practicing their handwriting! We will use a different book for this year so if your child wants to take this class again we will be drawing new pictures. 1st graders are welcome if they have learned some basic handwriting. We will cover some of the same pictures and some new ones.

Life Skills will be a fun, diverse class through which students will learn and regularly practice various skills. We will work toward becoming adept with calendars, telling time, money, and basic geography. There will be regular practice in memorizing the books of the Bible and locating passages quickly. We will learn how to tie shoes, discuss dealing with potential hazards, and learn to play simple songs on a recorder. There will also be plenty of opportunities for speaking and praying out loud in front of the rest of the class to build confidence in public speaking.

In Zoology 2 we will dive into a journey of studying and exploring the wonderful world of underwater creatures. We’re going to talk about and study the inhabitants of our oceans, rivers, ponds, and streams. We will even spend a few weeks learning about prehistoric water creatures. Your student will marvel as they discover and learn about the charming, exotic, and fascinating creatures God created on the 5th day of creation. Your student will expand their understanding of the water creatures they encounter regularly and also gain awareness of those they may never encounter. The easy-to-use Apologia science curriculum that will guide this class is written in an engaging narrative form and is fit for the entire family to read and enjoy together!

Learn the most popular game ever invented! Chess develops spatial thinking, problem solving, and builds focused concentration. Chess 2 is designed for beginning students who are ready to tackle learning chess strategy at a faster pace and for returning students who want to continue learning and improving their chess game. Students will receive a one year Chesskid.com gold membership with class enrollment. This will allow them to utilize videos, lessons and puzzles on Chesskid.com to learn such things as how to build a pawn shield, create a fork with your knight, pin the rook, and skewer the queen - all on the way to checkmate! Students will also learn chess variants, participate in puzzle challenges, and in-class tournaments. The majority of class time will be spent PLAYING chess!

We will use a combination of songs & rhymes, picture vignettes with accompanying stories, Gouin’s ‘series,’ skits and literature to teach Spanish in the same gentle way you learned English. Students will be exposed to and learn to understand, speak and write beginner Español. We will also learn about some of the culture and geography of Spanish-speaking countries around the world. ¡Vamos a hablar Español!

Welcome to Discoveries in Writing, a theme-based writing journey from IEW. Using source texts about the Bayeux Tapestry, tsunamis, Jerusalem and the Crusades, and other interesting subjects, students will learn writing skills including outlining, writing from notes, retelling stories, and many others. Mechanics, strong word choice, and vocabulary will also be covered.

This is a class for older students. No one under the age of 10 is permitted without teacher permission! Students will be learning the elements of group singing, with music written in up to 3 parts. Basic sight reading, the elements of written music, and voice development will be taught. The goal is that the students achieve success and joy as the class works together to produce beautiful music. A variety of music, both sacred and secular will be learned. It is a joy to see the beauty of the music produced by the students and the satisfaction that they achieve in the process.

Lounge is a semi-quiet place for students and adults to hang out, work on schoolwork, visit with a friend, play a quiet card game, listen to music with headphones, etc. (see handbook for all details about Lounge). Lounge meets in the Fellowship Hall.

In this class, our prayer and vision is to expose the children to some of life's riches. We will encourage them to observe the beauty of God's creation and the arts inspired by it, and be able to articulate and discuss their observations, encouraging the habit of attention. Class will begin with prayer, a hymn, and a folk song, and will include rotating studies of artists, composers, and poetry, ending with nature study as often as possible. This class will mirror the K-3 grade Jr Symposium class. We will be taking nature walks on a regular basis, so please dress accordingly. NOTE: This class works on a rotation. Students desiring to take it again will have all new material.

This class will introduce your student to the joy and beauty of watercolor painting. We will look at and learn different watercolor techniques as well as explore a few other aspects of art in general along the way. We will be learning about color theory, composition, light and shadow, and practicing some helpful drawing tips too.

In this class we will be going through “Trim Healthy You” it explains about all the different food groups and why we should be eating real food and what real food can do for our bodies. We will be cooking almost every class period, making some simple things and also more complex meals.

Students will learn the basics of conversing in the Spanish language! They will learn the alphabet, colors, numbers, days of the week, months, family members, common item names, verbs, conjugation, short phrases and many other words. They will also be learning about different Spanish speaking nations and cultures. This is a challenging course and although grading is on a complete/incomplete basis it will require commitment from parents and students. Internet access is required as all syllabus and course assignments are posted on Canvas. This is a high-school level course and could be equivalent to 1 foreign language credit.

Forests, deserts, a tropical island… are you prepared? If Mt. Rainier (an active volcano) erupted, would you know what to do? If there were an active shooter situation, could you remain safe and help those around you? No one wants to be caught off-guard and unprepared. This class will cover a variety of survival situations from camping and hiking gone wrong to natural disasters and accidents. We will discuss preparation, assessing the situation, navigation, making/finding shelters, starting fires, locating safe drinking water, finding and cooking food, first aid, getting help, and more. Students will engage in hands-on activities each week to learn how to survive in these situations as an individual and as a member of a group.

This course is designed to work through more advanced math skills beyond algebra. We will cover topics such as geometry, trigonometry, utilizing a graphing calculator, complex numbers, series and sequences, matrices, and applied mathematics. This course is designed to prepare students for college entrance exams (such as SAT).

British Literature is like a great city built up over centuries, and in this class, we will take a tour of this city from it's very beginnings to it's modern constructions. From Beowulf to George Orwell and C.S. Lewis, from the Romantics to the Modernists, we will cover the main movements in British literature and the cultural reasons that caused them. It will be a fast-paced tour, and by the end of it you will have a working familiarity with the biography of Britain's literature and a sense of why British Literature remains so popular, so compelling, and so influential, even today.

Young Christian leaders, you are called to lead your generation with courage, conviction, love, and integrity for such a time as this. In class, we are going to dive deep into scripture and discover what it means to live as a disciple of Jesus and how to steward our gifts, time, talents and treasure to serve God and our communities well. Good leaders are intentional to grow and develop healthy habits, clear communication skills, lead by example, they give and receive helpful feedback, love wisdom and leaders look for ways to build others up and add value. This course helps your high school student to graduate with the financial wisdom they will need to navigate today's world well. We will be using the Foundations in Personal Finance course by Dave Ramsey, a complete dynamic curriculum that will teach your students about saving, investing, budgeting and spending from a biblical perspective. This class is for Running Start Students, ONLY. Running Start students should sign up for this class if they will be at LHC regularly or on occasion. Students that sign up for this class are expected to be in lounge.

The nursery is available for infants - age 3 and does not require session payments.The only payment required is a fee of $15/semester to cover the cost of snacks and supplies for nursery. Parents that are registering a child in the nursery will be expected to serve in the nursery for one of their jobs. Any co-op parent is encouraged to work in the nursery if they would enjoy this job!
