Description:

This is a class for older students. No one under the age of 10 is permitted without teacher permission! Students will be learning the elements of group singing, with music written in up to 3 parts. Basic sight reading, the elements of written music, and voice development will be taught. The goal is that the students achieve success and joy as the class works together to produce beautiful music. A variety of music, both sacred and secular will be learned. It is a joy to see the beauty of the music produced by the students and the satisfaction that they achieve in the process.

Homework:

The student will be expected to memorize music that is to be performed.

Special Projects:

Two concerts, one before Christmas, and one before the last day of classes in the Spring, are a requirement. A service project (for example, singing in a retirement facility) may be planned.

Supplies/Curriculum to be Provided by Student:

Black 3 ring notebook and a pencil. Black slacks or skirt, white shirt or blouse, and black shoes for concerts.

Material Fees:

$20 per semester

Skills Needed:

Students must desire to work hard as a singing group. Each student should be able to read words and sing a familiar tune.
