Beginning Orchestra

Learn to play a string instrument while discovering the joy of making music in a group setting! Students will learn skills in tone production, note reading (rhythmic and melodic), basic music theory, scales, and bowings. Emphasis will be placed on good technique, left and right-hand posture, tuning their own instrument, and ensemble playing. Participants in the orchestra will use movement, listening, and playing instruments to develop their own musical artistry while building friendships with their peers in a musical setting.
Christian Heroes

We will be reading the inspiring life stories of missionaries Jim Elliot, Amy Carmichael, Mary Slessor and WWII hero,Jacob Deshazer. We will be traveling to Ecuador, India, Africa, and Japan to learn about the history, culture, and people they faithfully loved and served. During class we will be engaging in lively discussions about these amazing men and women of faith and we will get the opportunity to dive into different cultures and try new foods together. We will deepen our understanding of our Christian faith and discover some of the unique gifts God has placed in each of us to use for His glory.
Living Hope Singers (4-12)

This is a class for older students. No one under the age of 10 is permitted without teacher permission! Students will be learning the elements of group singing, with music written in up to 3 parts. Basic sight reading, the elements of written music, and voice development will be taught. The goal is that the students achieve success and joy as the class works together to produce beautiful music. A variety of music, both sacred and secular will be learned. It is a joy to see the beauty of the music produced by the students and the satisfaction that they achieve in the process.
Lounge 4

Lounge is a semi-quiet place for students and adults to hang out, work on schoolwork, visit with a friend, play a quiet card game, listen to music with headphones, etc. (see handbook for all details about Lounge). Lounge meets in the Fellowship Hall.
Mystery of History III (4-6)

Embark on an exciting journey through world history from the Renaissance through the Reformation (1455-1707) Students will create a Mystery of History notebook, which features a keepsake timeline. Alongside this, the class will have various crafts, activities, and a few written assignments throughout the year. Students will learn to create memory cards, memorizing 12 important dates during the course. Join us as we dig into the past, revealing God’s sovereign hand in history.
Symposium (4-6)

In this class, our prayer and vision is to expose the children to some of life's riches. We will encourage them to observe the beauty of God's creation and the arts inspired by it, and be able to articulate and discuss their observations, encouraging the habit of attention. Class will begin with prayer, a hymn, and a folk song, and will include rotating studies of artists, composers, and poetry, ending with nature study as often as possible. This class will mirror the K-3 grade Jr. Symposium class. We will be taking nature walks on a regular basis, so please dress accordingly. NOTE: This class works on a rotation. Students desiring to take it again will have all new material.
