Description:

Come and join a year-long journey through C.S. Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia! In this class, we will spend a year exploring Lewis's great series, deep-diving into the inspirations behind the chronicles (Persian tales! Medieval quests! The Truest Story of all!) as well as how they function as parts of a whole story. We will learn about the events in Lewis's life and times that influence the stories and how such an incredibly popular work of literature came to be - and almost wasn't! My hope is that by the end of this class you enjoy the Chronicles of Narnia more than ever and see more in them than you thought could be there. Further up and further in! To Narnia!

Homework:

Read the week's assigned chapters (audio books are allowed); written narrations each week retelling an event in your own words. While this isn't a writing class, I might ask the kids to occasionally do creative narrations such as retell an event in an interview style or in a poetic form.

Special Projects:

We'll end the year with one big creative project focusing on one Chronicle, character or aspect of the series that you found especially interesting (or frustrating).
