Children's Literature (2-3 B)
Grade: 2 - 3 Min: 4 Max: 12 (2 seats remaining)
Min Assistants: 1 Max Assistants: 1 (Assistant Max Reached)
In this class, we will look into the different aspects of literature and storytelling to learn what makes up a good story. Students will learn how to dissect the different components of a story as well as look at literary themes that run throughout our novel. In addition to short stories, we will also read a chapter book together as a class. To help us understand the story, we will add in various activities and projects. For students who hope to take this class 2 years in a row, the material will change to accommodate that to ensure they have something new to learn year 2. NOTE: Books and activities change slightly from year to year as to accommodate for returning students.
The goal is to have no mandatory homework assigned for this class; however, optional homework assignments will be given throughout the year. In those instances, there will be an email sent out to the parents with the parameters of the assignment so that you can help your child should they choose to do the optional assignment.
Please have your student bring pencils, scissors, glue and coloring tools (such as markers, crayons or colored pencils) EVERY week as we will use these for our in-class assignments and activities weekly.
