This class is intended for students who desire to grow as personal worshipers of Christ as well as skillful musicians who can lead others into corporate worship. We will both challenge and encourage each other through a time of scriptural reflection and prayer, then we will move into a time of practical application as we utilize God's good gift of music! Focus will primarily be placed on preparing music for worship at chapel but emphasis will also be given to improving skill, technique, and musicianship. Music theory will be taught as it applies to the worship setting.
Students will have weekly assigned reading, summary writing, and music to practice.
We will lead a time of worship once a month in chapel.
Please plan to bring your instrument, printed music/materials distributed in class, and a heart ready to grow and worship together!

This class is not set up to teach students *how* to play or sing, but rather to hone existing skills. Therefore, for both instrumentalists and vocalists, prior musical experience and/or training is highly recommended. At a minimum, students should be able to sing or play along with a recorded song and must be able to read from a lead sheet. Instrumentalists should feel confident playing basic chords and/or rhythm on their instrument while maintaining a stead beat. Vocalists should feel confident singing in tune in either a solo or ensemble setting. **If you have any questions about your student's readiness, please contact me prior to registration.**
