In this class we will focus on developing creative writing skills as well as a love of writing. This will include a focus on reading interesting stories and putting them into our own words, developing key word outlines, learning the different elements of story writing, how to write and format an essay in college style, writing and typing exercises, creative thinking and much more! Writing can be tough and this class will encourage your student to pursue skills in writing and learn to love it.
Homework will include weekly reading, writing and typing practice, reading and revising stories, presentations and more. Homework is based out of our Writing and Rhetoric book, some IEW work and independent essay writing to utilize creative writing skills.
We will have multiple "show and tell" days that will include a presentation and a written or typed essay about the presentation.
Students will need a notebook, sharpened pencils and erasers, access to a computer/printer and will need to purchase "Writing & Rhetoric Book 5: Refutation and Confirmation" Student Edition. This can be purchased on Amazon, Christianbooks.com, Thriftbooks, Classicalacademicpress.com and Rainbow Resource Center.

Students will need the ability to read and comprehend at a 6th grade level, as well as basic writing and typing skills.
This class is on a two year cycle; this year (25/26) we will be going through Writing and Rhetoric Book 5, and next year we will be going through Writing and Rhetoric Book 6. It is not necessary for your child to have done this class a previous year for them to join us now!
