"Where two rivers meet, the waters are never calm." Chadian proverb. This high school social studies course will cover the geopolitical development of various countries, in view of their history, geography, resources, and current political climate. Additionally, we will study the advance of the gospel in each country, weaving in the elements previously mentioned. I am teaching this from a biblical perspective, and will engage these topics with a view towards God’s goodness, truth and beauty. Some of the books used are not from an explicit Christian perspective. This class will fulfill the high school requirement for 1 full credit of social studies.
Students should expect 2-5 hours of homework a week. Homework will include assigned reading and answering review questions. Group projects will also periodically be assigned. Also, students will need access to current world news sources for class discussion of current events.
Students can expect to write short essays, engage in group projects, and take periodic assessments.
