High School Astronomy

Description:

A survey of Astronomy to include observational techniques and equipment as well as details of God's created universe. There will be discussion of Creation vs. big bang theory. This will be a 1 credit science or elective course for high school students.

Homework:

Approx. 1 hour per day. Students will need to complete reading and questions as well as observing the night sky.

Special Projects:

There will be a year end science fair project. Also, there will be several opportunities to meet as a group to observe the night sky (optional, but highly encouraged).

Supplies/Curriculum to be Provided by Student:

Masterbooks Intro to Astrophysics (ISBN-13: 9781683442462) Students will also want to keep an observation notebook at home that will be checked every month.

Material Fees:

$30 for the year to be paid first semester.

Skills Needed:

The student should come ready to learn and willing to complete assignments in a timely manner. Also, a desire to observe the night sky is highly recommended as it will improve the student's learning in this course.
