Description:

In this class, our prayer and vision is to expose the children to some of life's riches. We will encourage them to observe the beauty of God's creation and the arts inspired by it, and be able to articulate and discuss their observations, encouraging the habit of attention. Class will begin with prayer, a hymn, and a folk song, and will include rotating studies of artists, composers, and poetry, ending with nature study as often as possible. This class will mirror the K-3 grade Jr Symposium class. We will be taking nature walks on a regular basis, so please dress accordingly. NOTE: This class works on a rotation. Students desiring to take it again will have all new material.

Homework:

Additional nature study at home may be requested.

Special Projects:

Each rotation will end with a class presentation.

Supplies/Curriculum to be Provided by Student:

Each student will need a good quality set of watercolor paints and paintbrushes (No Crayola, please). Links to multiple options will be provided after registration. Students will also need drawing pencils and glue sticks.

Material Fees:

Skills Needed:

A good attitude and a willingness to participate! This class heavily utilizes discussion as a learning tool.
