Description:

This class will cover beginning sign language with a strong emphasis on ASL. We will learn to sign many words over the course of the year through practice with our hands, video instruction, worksheets, games and more. Vocabulary will be learned in subjects such as colors, animals, etc. We will also learn basic communication sentences that will be structured in exact English order but ASL word order will be discussed. A binder will be provided that students will add vocabulary sheets in order to study and practice at home. This class will cover the same lessons as last year.

Homework:

Practice! Practice! Practice! Practice at home is a must. We are learning how to talk with our hands so memorizing the words allows us to "talk". We will take occasional "tests". These are to help your child know how they are doing. The tests are very informal and are a helping tool only.
