Description:

An engaging, gentle way to introduce your child to the beauty of the Bard and the classics plays of English Literature. Shakespeare has made his way into so much of our lives in our sayings and storylines - join us in developing a love and appreciation for this great treasure. We will start by reading a biography on Shakespeare and the Globe Theatre and a narrative retelling of the first play we will be reading. We will do a different set of plays each year. We might read some stories from classic Greek and Roman roots and mythology which form the foundations of much of his work. We will then continue to make our way through other Shakespeare comedies, tragedies and histories throughout the year. Books will be provided.

Homework:

Minimal homework will be required.

Special Projects:

Depending on interest, we might act out brief version of the plays. As available and relevant, I hope to present at least one opportunity to watch a live production of a play as a class.

Supplies/Curriculum to be Provided by Student:

Pencils and paper and an open attitude to learn.

Material Fees:

$15 first term, $10 second term, Venmo: @EugeneFM

Skills Needed:

We'll be reading the plays out loud together. Confident readers recommended, although they don't need to be fluent in Shakespeare's English.
