Description:

This course for beginning and intermediate photographers will take you through the basics of using any camera and it’s various built in modes and how to use them. We will be covering composition rules, ISO, aperture, shutter speeds and the standard functions of your camera. Each student will gain confidence in shooting in manual by the end of the school year. Intermediate students will find the exercises are still challenging and stretches their creativity as well as technical skills. At the end of the year we will be ready to submit images to the Washington State Fair or other local judging and competition, if available. This is a full high school credit.

Homework:

Expect 1-2 hours per week outside of class.

Special Projects:

There will be weekly opportunities to put the skills learned to the test, some of which will be displayed as a professional prints for the co-op to see.

Supplies/Curriculum to be Provided by Student:

Any digital camera with a Manual mode option, cables and card readers to transfer files from camera to computer. A computer for checking emails, accessing Canvas and storing photos. Email access to access Canvas and receive emails.

Material Fees:

$10 per semester for curriculum/handouts and photography prints.

Skills Needed:

Creativity, teachable, ready to learn technical skills.

Prerequisites:

Practice with a digital camera (not a phone) over the summer.
